God gave us our critical faculties, and I think he wants us to use them in the betterment of ourselves and the world around us. I think what it may come down to is we must always keep in mind why we are acting/talking in a certain way: you mentioned judgement must not come with condemnation or a sense of superiority, and I agree. When we remind ourselves of the purpose in our behaviour, and the benefit, that can help us to know if we are acting goodly or badly.
